The iPhone 18 model is set to be postponed until spring 2027, at which point it will be launched alongside the more affordable iPhone 18e model.
Nonetheless, Apple is gearing up to unveil several new features that may entice customers to switch to a pricier device. Digital Chat Station, a prominent leaker based in China, has revealed some fresh insights regarding the upgrades expected for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the upcoming year. Reports indicate that Apple is examining a few significant design modifications, such as a reduced size for the hole-punch camera and a see-through back. He also noted enhancements to the camera and battery.
The leaker notes that Apple is aiming to minimize the dimensions of the hole-punch camera module present in the current models. The pill-shaped cutout was first introduced by Apple in 2022 with the iPhone 14 Pro models. The following year, the Dynamic Island was incorporated into all iPhone 15 versions. This pill-shaped cutout houses both the Face ID system and the front-facing camera, comprising two openings. If Apple intends to decrease the size of the Dynamic Island, it could position the Face ID sensor beneath the display. Digital Chat Station has not referenced this change as of now. In September, he asserted that Apple would resize the Dynamic Island without relocating any sensors under the screen. Additionally, there have been speculations suggesting that Apple eventually aims to remove the screen cutout altogether.
