M3 Ultra Mac Studio Users Unable to Upgrade to macOS Tahoe, Resolution Postponed

Apple introduced macOS Tahoe this Monday along with iOS 26 and various other new operating system updates. Nonetheless, owners of one of the pricier Macs available have reported challenges in updating their M3 Ultra Mac Studio to the newest version of macOS.

As stated in an Apple Discussion forum, users with this particular Mac encounter problems when trying to upgrade from macOS Sequoia 15.7 to macOS Tahoe 26.0. The computer prepares the update, restarts, and when it indicates that the update will take “less than a minute,” the Mac returns to the Sequoia login screen. Once they input their credentials, a notification appears stating that an unexpected reboot has occurred.

A forum member identified that this problem arises because the Mac cannot load the macOS Tahoe driver for the Apple Neural Engine chip in the Mac Studio. Consequently, there is currently no action users can take to receive this update, as Apple is in the process of developing a solution.
