Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The technology behemoth attributes the price increases to the “shifts in the macroeconomic landscape” — clearly referencing the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in recent months.
The adjustments are not excessively significant on each console. For example, the Xbox Series S will see a rise of only $20, while the other consoles will vary in their price adjustments. Nevertheless, it represents an increase on hardware that has been around for nearly five years now.
This marks yet another significant price increase as a response to tariffs and other changing economic factors. For instance, Sony hiked the prices for the PlayStation 5 back in August, and this isn’t even the initial occasion Xbox has increased its prices this year, as the company also raised them globally back in May. Nintendo has similarly raised prices on the standard Switch, and it is likely that we will witness further price hikes before this situation concludes.
