Following the announcement of the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film a few years back, Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto utilized the company’s social media platforms to finally disclose the actors portraying Zelda and Link in this much-anticipated movie.
As per a post on X, in the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film, Zelda will be portrayed by Bo Bragason, while Link will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. “I am greatly looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen,” Miyamoto states.
Bragason, born in 2004, is recognized for her performances in the BBC One series “Three Girls” (2017) and “The Jetty” (2024). She has also been featured in the Disney+ series “Renegade Nell” (2024) and the film “The Radleys.”
Ainsworth, born in 2008, is known for his role as Miles in the Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” (2020), William in Disney’s “Flora & Ulysses” (2021), and for voicing Pinocchio in Disney’s live-action adaptation.
The movie is slated for release in theaters on May 7, 2027, four years following the launch of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”
The Zelda film is co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., with Nintendo contributing over 50% of the funding. Sony will manage the global theatrical distribution.
“This is Miyamoto. I have been collaborating on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has been behind numerous mega hit films,” Miyamoto proclaimed in a statement on X a couple of years ago. “I have requested Avi-san to produce this film alongside me, and we have officially commenced the development of the film with Nintendo itself significantly involved in the production. It will take some time before its completion, but I hope you anticipate seeing it.”
This live-action endeavor follows the triumph of “Detective Pikachu” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” as Nintendo broadens its horizons beyond console and smartphone games into merchandise, theme parks, and now films.
