Speculation also suggested a GPT-5.2 upgrade was imminent this week, potentially as early as Tuesday. It turns out this speculation was nearly accurate: OpenAI introduced the GPT-5.2 model family on Thursday, two days later than anticipated, stating that ChatGPT now delivers multiple enhancements over the prior generation. The previous generation, GPT-5.1, was released by OpenAI just a month ago as an upgrade to GPT-5.
OpenAI’s release wasn’t limited to new AI models with enhanced features; the company also announced a major collaboration with Disney for Sora, which should also act as a significant PR maneuver in its competition with other AI companies developing cutting-edge chatbots to rival ChatGPT, particularly Google. Lastly, OpenAI confirmed that the adult mode that some ChatGPT users might be looking forward to is expected to arrive in early 2026.
