Face ID may be arriving on the Mac “in a couple of years.” He also speculated that Apple would steadily integrate the sensor across all iPhones and iPads, which has only seen partial implementation.

Throughout these years, Apple has had numerous opportunities to launch Face ID on the Mac, including the redesigned MacBook Pro from 2021 featuring the M1 Pro and M1 Max, the Studio Display monitor, and possibly a revamped MacBook Pro with the M6 chip and OLED display. While recent speculations indicate that Apple is moving away from the notch in favor of a Dynamic Island-like cutout, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has disappointing news for those hoping for Face ID on that Mac.
