If you find the conversation backgrounds to be more of a distraction than a benefit, you can quickly turn them off by accessing your iPhone’s Settings app. Then, tap Apps and select Messages. Now, scroll down the page until you see the Conversation Backgrounds toggle and switch it off. Turning this toggle off will completely turn off conversation backgrounds on your device. It will also revert all of your conversations in Messages back to the default background of white or black (based on whether your iPhone is set to Light Mode or Dark Mode).
