Proton Pass, created by the Swiss firm Proton, has become a favored option for individuals looking for a dependable and secure solution for password management. Since its introduction, Proton Pass has experienced multiple updates that have improved its features and security protocols. A significant new feature in the app is its capability to store credit card details, along with a Proton Pass Monitor function that continually protects user logins.
Even with its strong security protocols, Proton Pass initially lacked the capability to serve as a full substitute for other password managers such as 1Password, mainly due to its absence of secure data storage options. Users typically depend on password managers to secure not only passwords but also sensitive documents like software licenses, vital notes, and identification papers. This capability was absent from Proton Pass until recently.
Proton has rectified this shortcoming by adding the option to store non-password items in Proton Pass. This newly introduced feature permits users to securely save up to 10GB of files, transforming Proton Pass from a basic password manager into a comprehensive “everything manager.” The app now accommodates 14 additional item types, including medical records, Wi-Fi configurations, and driver’s licenses, in conjunction with passwords and credit card data.
This upgrade positions Proton Pass as a strong contender in the password management arena, providing users with a secure and multifaceted tool for handling a broad spectrum of sensitive information.
