Proton has established a strong reputation over the last few years, emphasizing a privacy-centric approach across all of its services, such as Proton Mail, Proton VPN, and beyond. Recently, the enterprise has also made its initial entry into the AI sector with Scribe, an AI writing aide incorporated seamlessly into Proton Mail, enabling users to make use of AI support without concerns over Big Tech tracking their information.
However, the firm is now preparing for its forthcoming major launch: an advanced AI chatbot named Lumo. In contrast to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — all of which collect user data and retain it for training and archival reasons — Proton asserts that Lumo prioritizes privacy. This ensures that all interactions with Lumo are fully end-to-end encrypted. Moreover, the company guarantees that it will not store records of your conversations, and that any chat logs or AI usage can only be retrieved on the user’s device.
