a significantly smaller and more selective streaming service than a competitor like Netflix implies that it doesn’t encounter as many of the challenges faced by the latter — for instance, a vast oversupply of content leading to certain titles escaping viewers’ attention. As Apple TV+ continues to expand, though, it seems probable that this could indeed evolve into an issue, as no one can keep up with everything available on every streaming platform. For example, a limited series from 2022 featuring Samuel L. Jackson in one of his finest performances has not garnered as much discussion as other Apple TV+ successes: the limited series “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.”
Adapted from the novel of the same title by Walter Mosley, the six-part drama features Jackson as Ptolemy Grey — characterized by Apple as “an ailing man forgotten by his family, by his friends, and by even himself.”
