This feature is at present exclusive to Premium subscribers, but it seems it should simplify the task of organizing your library — at least if you opt to do so based on Spotify’s categorization system — somewhat. The differing mood selections available include funny, rebellious, angst, relaxing, amped, and many others.
It appears that the choices provided here may vary depending on the type of music saved in your library, as the options initially presented under my Smart Filters differed from those found on my wife’s account.
If you already have access to Smart Filters — Spotify indicates that this new feature is gradually being made available to Premium users in “Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US” commencing today — you can press the filters button in the app to begin. This button resembles two horizontal lines with circles at each end.
After selecting it, tap the filter you wish to use for sorting your music. It should automatically reorganize your library based on the songs that correspond to that mood, genre, or activity. Be aware that filtering your music will conceal other songs that don’t match that mood, so you’ll need to click the X at the top left of the library tab to clear the filter and display your entire library once more.
