Naseej, a leading provider of knowledge and digital transformation solutions in the region, has completed a comprehensive shelving services project for the library at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). This initiative supports the university’s efforts to enhance its academic and research environment.
As the UAE’s premier national university, UAEU aims for leadership and innovation in higher education, research, and community service both nationally and internationally. In line with this goal, Naseej reorganized 65,000 library items according to the Library of Congress Classification (LCC), aligning with the library’s new U-shaped shelving design.
A team of 12 specialized professionals implemented the project, following a structured plan based on international best practices in collection management. This ensured accurate and sequential redistribution of materials, maintaining classification integrity while aligning the physical setup with the new layout.
By synchronizing the collection order with the new shelving configuration, the initiative improves movement within the library, increases retrieval efficiency, and enhances the experience for both librarians and users. It establishes a more intuitive path to subject areas and streamlines operational workflows across the library.
For UAEU, a research-driven institution, effective physical organization is crucial for knowledge accessibility and academic productivity. This project reinforces the library’s role in facilitating research activities and developing competitive capabilities, aligning with the university’s mission to build a sustainable educational and research future for the UAE.
