Naseej, the leading provider of knowledge and digital transformation solutions in the region, has successfully completed a comprehensive shelving services project at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) library. This project supports the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance its academic and research environment.
As the UAE’s first and most comprehensive national university, UAEU strives for leadership and innovation in higher education, research, and community service both nationally and internationally. In alignment with this goal, Naseej reorganized 65,000 library items according to the Library of Congress Classification (LCC), ensuring full conformity with the library’s newly adopted U-shaped shelving design.
An on-site team of 12 specialized service professionals executed the project following a structured plan based on international best practices in collection management. This ensured accurate, sequential redistribution of materials while maintaining classification integrity and aligning the physical setup with the updated layout.
By aligning the collection order with the new shelving configuration, the initiative enhances internal movement, retrieval efficiency, and provides librarians and users with a clearer experience. This results in a more intuitive pathway to subject areas and a more robust operational workflow throughout the library.
For a research-intensive institution like UAEU, a well-organized physical setup is essential for knowledge accessibility and academic productivity. This project reinforces the library’s role in facilitating research activities and supports developing competitive capabilities that align with the university’s mission to create a sustainable educational and research future for the UAE.
