Middle age might just kickstart your love life. According to new data from eharmony, dating after 40 is looking up. Released on April 14, 2026, the “Redefining Love After 40” report shines a light on dating in your 40s, 50s, and 60s. Contrary to what pop culture suggests, this period might be the best for your love life. Older daters are having more fun and are more protection-conscious.

The eharmony survey of 3,016 U.S. singles reveals singles in these age groups aren’t settling but are exploring new possibilities. Turning 40 has allowed more time for self-focus, with 56% agreeing. Some even see it as a chance to reinvent themselves. Most individuals in their 40s understand communication’s importance, with 60% ready for long-term relationships, motivated by their previous mistakes. Fifty percent say communication is the biggest lesson learned from past relationships.

Furthermore, 40-somethings and 50-somethings feel more confident about their desires in bed. The importance of an emotional connection is acknowledged by 37% of daters in their 40s and 53% in their 60s. For some, dating apps are essential, as 31% of singles who don’t use them have been single for over a decade. Among 40-year-olds currently dating, 36% expressed interest in apps.

Overall, dating after 40 has potential, with older adults seeking honesty, stability, and meaningful connections, understanding their wants and needs.
