### Preparation for iPhone Fold?

Spotify has updated its iOS and Android apps to look better on tablets and foldable phones.
The new design, launched on Thursday, makes better use of the extra space on tablets. For instance, on an iPad, you can browse in a larger window on the left while keeping the now playing sidebar on the right with album art, controls, and lyrics.

The app is more adaptive now, reconfiguring the interface for either portrait or landscape mode.
The right sidebar can be collapsed with a touch of the down arrow or expanded to fill the display. It hosts controls, song information, related videos, artist info, and more. There’s also a “Switch to Video/Audio” button.
“Tablets give you more room to explore, so we designed it to let you browse and discover new favorites alongside what’s already playing,” said Nicole Burrow, head of design at Spotify. “The goal was simple: Wherever you open Spotify, it should feel unmistakably like Spotify.”
This update also improves the Spotify app experience on foldable devices. With Apple rumored to launch the iPhone Fold later this year and other brands steadily releasing foldable phones, the timing is notable.
