Humanoid ‘Lightning’ Robot Breaks the Half-Marathon Record

1 Min Read

Four autonomous “Lightning” robots completed a 13-mile race in Beijing, each finishing in under an hour, with one setting a record time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds. Developed by Honor, these robots feature legs resembling elite human runners and advanced cooling technology. A total of 47 robot teams finished the race, with 18 being autonomous. The fastest human runner completed the course nearly 20 minutes slower than the leading robot. The top three spots were claimed by Lightning models, outpacing last year’s robotic and human participants. Despite a remote-controlled Lightning clocking the fastest time, an autonomous model was awarded the win based on competition criteria.
