WhatsApp is introducing a paid tier called WhatsApp Plus, offering features like stickers, ringtones, themes, wallpapers, and icons that only the subscriber can see, plus the ability to pin 20 chats. Pricing details are not yet announced. Non-paying users will continue to access the app’s existing functions, maintaining free messaging and calling services. Meta, the parent company, also tests premium tiers for Facebook and Instagram, aiming to increase revenue. In 2025, Meta’s revenue reached nearly $60 billion in Q4 and over $200 billion for the year, with plans to enhance AI-generated advertising visibility.
