Stephen Colbert Criticizes Trump’s Iran War Strategy

Late night hosts have noticed that Donald Trump’s Iran war strategy may not be going as expected. Jon Stewart took 22 minutes to analyze the president’s so-called “4D chess” on the Daily Show, while Stephen Colbert offered similar insights on the Late Show.

“On Thursday, Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire, so on Friday Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz — and yes, it was already open before we started the war, but I believe the real Strait of Hormuz was the friends we made along the way. I’m sorry, what’s that? And I’m being told that we made no friends,” Colbert says.

“Trump immediately claimed victory, posting, ‘Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again.’ And they never did — until the next day, when Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz again.”
