Framework CEO Nirav Patel showcased the company’s latest modular, repairable laptops in San Francisco today, highlighting the new Laptop 13 Pro. This is Framework’s first laptop fully machined from aluminum, targeting Linux users as “the MacBook Pro for Linux users.”

Framework introduced its first laptop sleeve made of space-age Tyvek, offering dedicated pockets for Expansion Cards, a screwdriver, and laptops up to 13 inches. It’s available in silver or black.

Framework has also announced the Framework Laptop 13 Pro, potentially addressing previous concerns about battery life and build quality with improved features.

The company is venturing into external graphics by allowing Framework Laptop 16’s GPU modules to function externally, or offering compatibility with desktop graphics or PCIe cards, using the OCuLink standard. The new OCuLink Dev Kit is aimed at enthusiasts or power users.

Framework is enhancing the Laptop 16’s design by introducing new one-piece touchpad and keyboard decks for a more cohesive feel.

A new wireless keyboard with a touchpad is also in development, intended to improve upon existing options like the Logitech K400.

The new Laptop 13 Pro boasts a significantly longer battery life, capable of 20 hours of 4K Netflix streaming.

Framework aims to increase versatility with the addition of a 10Gbps port to their desktops or laptops.

CEO Nirav Patel emphasized Framework’s philosophy of empowering users with full ownership of their devices, opposing the industry’s trend towards less user control.
