“Star Wars” — or more accurately, responding to silly inquiries from fans, journalists, or talk show hosts regarding the franchise and his cherished character, Han Solo. It’s no surprise that Indiana Jones, his other legendary part, also ranks high on that list of topics he’d rather avoid. It’s not that Ford lacks pride or gratitude for these roles — he’s well aware that those two characters significantly contributed to his rise as a global movie star — it’s just that he’s become weary of discussing them.
Especially when fans inundate him with absurd questions and bizarre scenarios that he finds uninteresting to engage with. He was quite open about this in a 2023 interview with Esquire, where the interviewer boldly inquired, “What kinds of questions do ‘Star Wars’ superfans ask you?” To which Ford responded, “Well, they typically ask me, ‘If there was a battle between Han Solo and Indiana Jones, who would f*****’ win?’ And I say [voice elevating, fingers tapping], ‘Me, ass****! I don’t want to f****** concoct s*** like that. I mean, why are you asking me that nonsense?'”
That’s completely reasonable. You can’t really fault Ford, now in his 80s, for not wanting to partake in such juvenile hypothetical discussions, particularly when he has appeared in numerous other remarkable films and taken on many different roles aside from just Han Solo and Indiana Jones.
