Longtime venture capitalist Ron Conway announced on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a rare cancer. In a post on X, he mentioned stepping back from some activities but will continue supporting SV Angel-backed founders: “With a more focused and balanced schedule, I can prioritize treatments while helping SV Angel founders at inflection points like we always do!”
SV Angel will remain unchanged as his son Topher Conway has been making investment decisions for nearly a decade. Another son, Ronny Conway, became a managing partner in 2024. They have experience from major technology cycles in Silicon Valley and are focusing on AI future founders.
Conway chose not to disclose the cancer type to prevent prognosis speculation but remains optimistic. He trusts his UCSF doctors in San Francisco and is ready to fight.
