OpenAI announced the release of GPT-5.5, hailed as its smartest and most user-friendly AI model to date. OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman noted that this model represents progress toward a future of more intuitive computing. He emphasized GPT-5.5’s efficiency, offering faster results for fewer tokens compared to previous models like 5.4, thereby benefiting both businesses and consumers.
The model is a step toward the creation of OpenAI’s envisioned “superapp,” combining tools like ChatGPT and Codex into a unified service for enterprise use, a concept also pursued by Elon Musk for his platform X. OpenAI has rapidly released new models, with GPT-5.4 arriving just last month. Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki anticipates significant improvements in AI development in the coming years.
GPT-5.5 is designed for broad applications, excelled in benchmarks against competing models from Google and Anthropic, and shows promise in fields such as mathematics, scientific research, and drug discovery. The model is available to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, with enhanced Pro features for select tiers.
