Sierra, a customer service agent startup founded by Bret Taylor, announced its acquisition of the YC-backed French startup Fragment on Thursday. Fragment assists businesses in integrating AI into their workflows. This marks Sierra’s third public acquisition, following its purchase of Japan-based enterprise AI solutions company Opera Tech and voice agent company Receptive AI, both announced in late March. Fragment co-founders Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthail will join the Sierra team.

In a blog post, Taylor and co-founder Clay Bavor stated that Moindrot and Genthail would add “valuable strength” to Sierra’s “agent development efforts in France.” The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Pitchbook estimates Fragment’s seed round raised around $2 million.

Taylor, also chairman of the board at OpenAI, co-founded Sierra with Google alum Bavor after leaving his role as co-CEO of Salesforce in early 2023. Sierra’s clients include Casper, Clear, and Brex, and it has raised over $630 million in funding from investors like Sequoia and Benchmark, reaching a $10 billion valuation.
