Blair Underwood has introduced a new book titled *A Soldier’s Wife: My Mother, the Marvelous Mrs. Marilyn A. Underwood*, drawing from his mother’s writings and diaries to narrate her life story. The book, developed in collaboration with Ylonda Gault, also features an audiobook performed by Blair and his sister Marlo Underwood.
In celebration of the book’s release and his mother, Underwood spoke with Kristy Puchko, Mashable Entertainment Editor, at the Say More studio in New York. They discussed Marilyn’s life, her battle with multiple sclerosis, her faith, and her love for fashion. Underwood also addressed the process of finding his mother’s voice and debated the potential use of AI for such tasks.
Previously, Underwood shared insights on Sidney Poitier’s role as a mentor during his early career as a Black actor in Hollywood, and the impact of Michael B. Jordan’s Oscar acceptance speech.
