Apple’s upcoming iOS update may introduce significant enhancements to the Camera app, providing users with enhanced control. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, iOS 27 will enable full customization of the Camera app, allowing users to select their own set of controls, or “widgets,” positioned at the top of the interface.

Although the Camera app will retain its current default widgets, iOS 27 will permit switching to an “advanced” set of options or custom selections. A new “Add Widgets” tray will offer widgets classified into basic, manual, and settings categories. Each capture mode in the Camera app will feature distinct widgets. Additionally, a new “Siri” mode will be introduced to leverage Apple’s visual intelligence capabilities.

Design updates are also anticipated for other apps with iOS 27, notably Siri, which Gurman mentions will be part of the Dynamic Island feature. The AI assistant might receive a standalone app and expanded integrations with third-party AI models. The update could include redesigns for the Image Playground app, Safari’s start page, and a new “Conditions” section in the Weather app.
