In Elon Musk’s X, a popular method for users to track posts they wish to revisit later is through Bookmarks. Currently, users must actively choose which posts to bookmark, and these are saved in the Bookmarks tab. However, a new update, which is being gradually introduced to users, will rename the Bookmarks tab to History. With this update, users will not only see bookmarked posts but also have access to a record of articles and videos they have engaged with on the platform.
Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, revealed this feature change recently. In a new History tab for iOS, users can keep track of their preferred content on X, such as Bookmarks, Long Videos, Articles, and Likes, allowing them to return and continue engaging with content. The Timeline progresses rapidly, so this feature aims to offer a convenient way to catch up on long-form content.
This History feature is now available exclusively on X for iOS, functioning similarly to a web browser’s history. According to Bier, users will have access to bookmarks, likes, and their article and video history within this new tab.
With the shutdown of read-later apps like Pocket, the introduction of such a feature seems beneficial for platforms. For example, Facebook already provides users with the ability to view their activity within its mobile app, encompassing videos watched and links clicked.
Some X users have already seen their Bookmarks tab transition to History, while others are awaiting the update.
