the passing of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” was so impactful that it was unfortunately duplicated many years later in “Star Trek Into Darkness.” The same cannot be claimed for William Shatner’s departure in “Star Trek Generations,” which concluded with an “Oh my,” leaving fans to respond with a united “Oh dear.” For such a legendary character in the series, Kirk deserved a better farewell, yet even after pondering his exit, Shatner has acknowledged that he wouldn’t alter it if given an opportunity.

I did the best I could,” he stated. This is the area of fantasy.” However, while a more flamboyant exit might have been desirable, the one aspect Shatner nailed was Kirk’s final words, which he improvised while shooting.
