Apple has recently achieved a notable settlement in relation to a class action lawsuit concerning the delays in the release of its “more personalized Siri” feature, which was first revealed at WWDC 2024. The lawsuit, initiated in March, accused Apple of publicizing artificial intelligence functionalities that were unavailable at that time and would remain so for several years. The company was purported to have set consumer expectations through extensive promotional efforts across multiple media channels.

In December, Apple consented to a settlement totaling $250 million, equating to around $25 for each eligible device. However, this figure could rise to as high as $95 per device, contingent on the amount of claims filed by users. The settlement encompasses devices acquired between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, including models like the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 series.

Notwithstanding the settlement, Apple has not acknowledged any misconduct, asserting that it acted in good faith and adhered to all applicable laws and regulations. A representative from Apple highlighted the company’s dedication to innovation and user privacy, showcasing the introduction of various features since the debut of Apple Intelligence.

Users eligible to file a claim are required to submit proof of purchase, which includes a serial number and Apple Account details. Notices for submitting claims will be distributed within 45 days of the preliminary approval of the settlement. The overall settlement amount also includes attorneys’ fees and administrative expenses, which will influence the final payout to users.
