Disney Plans to Develop a Unified ‘Super App,’ Report Says

Disney is exploring the potential of integrating Disney+ with other apps such as Disneyland Resort and Disney Cruise Line Navigator to create a single comprehensive app, as reported by Bloomberg.

The discussions are in the early stages and internally referred to as a “super app.”

Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, who succeeded Bob Iger earlier this year, aims to streamline the Disney experience by making Disney+ and Disney parks more interconnected.

“Disney+ becomes the primary relationship between Disney and its fans, the place where everything comes together,” D’Amaro said during Disney’s quarterly earnings call.

This initiative echoes Elon Musk’s vision for an “everything app” like China’s WeChat but focuses on bringing Disney’s mobile platforms under one app, which seems more achievable, albeit ambitious.

D’Amaro might be aiming to boost park interest by engaging Disney+ subscribers. However, Disney+ subscribers and park visitors aren’t always the same audience, posing a potential challenge if the Disney+ app starts pushing cruise advertisements.
