With only a few weeks remaining until WWDC, Bloomberg has disclosed numerous insights regarding Apple’s plans for the redesigned, Google Gemini-enhanced Siri on iOS 27. Here are the specifics.

## A Continuously Active Agent That Can Access Personal Information and Execute Actions Across Applications

In recent months, Bloomberg has been covering various elements and transformations approaching the Gemini-enhanced, always-active, agent-like Siri on iOS 27.

This includes reports indicating that this year’s WWDC artwork is inspired by the new animation of Siri, that Siri will also show up in the Dynamic Island with options to “Search or Ask” when initiated from the power button or via the activation phrase, and that Apple is finally working on a standalone Siri app featuring a chatbot-like conversational interface, inclusive of uploads, history, and pins.

Now, Mark Gurman has provided further details on what users should anticipate from the upgraded Siri, enhancing his earlier reports. The report also brings in new insights regarding an impending upgrade to the Camera app as well as systemic enhancements to Liquid Glass.

According to Gurman, iOS 27 will introduce a novel gesture enabling users to activate a system-wide “Search or Ask” feature, with a choice to tap a microphone symbol to enable voice mode. From that point, users will be permitted to “press the search bar to switch between utilizing Siri or third-party alternatives such as ChatGPT or Gemini as their search engine.”

Users can also initiate a new system search by swiping down from the top center of the display at any location. When this action is performed, a “Search or Ask” bar will be visible in the Dynamic Island.

The report further states that this interface resembles the existing Spotlight Search feature on iOS, yet it “can present more sophisticated results and additional information from within applications.”

In his report, Gurman also points out that Apple will simplify the process of uploading images and documents to Siri via the app and the chatbot interface, employing a “+” button.

Ultimately, the report indicates that users will be able to transition from a standard Siri interaction to this chatbot-like conversational mode by swiping down on the transparent results card that manifests after activating the assistant:

When users interact with Siri, they can swipe a transparent results card down to enter a chatbot conversation mode, resembling a text message dialogue. This interface features in-line mini app cards to display results for items such as weather, upcoming appointments, and notes.
