At the Musk v. Altman trial, the software giant aims to maintain its distance from the chaos and avoid becoming entangled in amateur antics.
During my third week at Musk v. Altman, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for Microsoft. Like me, they seem reluctant participants in this trial. Their opening statement was quintessentially Microsoft, doubling as a detailed advertisement for their products and implying the absurdity of the trial. Despite the drama surrounding Musk, his associates, and OpenAI, Microsoft, though a major early funder, remained largely outside the fray, with scant involvement in the decision-making chaos evidenced by the trial’s documents.
On the stand, CEO Satya Nadella projected calmness, labeling OpenAI’s 2023 board drama “amateur city.” During the trial, Microsoft’s involvement was scarcely noted, underscoring their peripheral role. I’m eager to hear their closing statement, which may well turn out to be another Microsoft Word promo.
