In films such as *Set It Off, Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, Independence Day,* and *Kill Bill,* acclaimed actress Vivica A. Fox has taken on roles like a bank robber, an outspoken widow, a single mom, and a former assassin. Now, in *Is God Is,* she portrays God. Well, sort of.
Playwright Aleshea Harris adapts her celebrated play *Is God Is* into a gripping road movie featuring Black twin sisters Racine (Kara Young) and Anaia (Mallori Johnson) on a life-changing quest for revenge. Reunited with their presumed-dead mother Ruby (Fox), they receive a mission: Make your daddy dead.
To the twins, Ruby is “God” because she created them. So how can they deny her bloodlust?
To celebrate the film’s release, Fox discussed with Mashable’s Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko about her illustrious filmography, the experience of portraying God, and her admiration for Harris, whom she ranks among her favorite directors alongside Quentin Tarantino.
Additionally, Fox shares what drives her and offers advice to those inspired by her.
*Is God Is* is now playing in theaters.
