Elon Musk Defeated in Legal Battle with Sam Altman

The jury in the Musk v. Altman case has dismissed all charges due to the statute of limitations. After deliberating for about two hours, the advisory jury, which provides a non-binding opinion to the judge, found two claims barred by the statute of limitations and a third one dismissed as a consequence. US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, the authority to make the final decision, accepted the jury’s conclusion. The jury determined that Musk’s breach of charitable trust claim was time-barred, leading to the failure of the aiding and abetting claim against Microsoft. Restitution was also barred by the statute of limitations.

The trial, which lasted three weeks in an Oakland federal courtroom, centered on allegations that OpenAI deviated from its foundational mission and accusations against CEO Sam Altman and company president Greg Brockman of breaching a charitable trust and benefiting unjustly at Musk’s expense. Musk also claimed Microsoft aided in these breaches. The proceedings featured contentious exchanges and controversial evidence, ultimately damaging the reputations of both parties involved.
