A small color E Ink screen enables customization of the mics with logos, images, or name tags.
After initially unveiling its innovative design at NAB 2026 last month with minimal technical details, Insta360 has announced and released its new wireless Mic Pro system, showcasing a few industry firsts. While the Mic Pro transmitters that connect to devices via Bluetooth are sold individually for $99.99, a more comprehensive kit with two microphone transmitters, a wireless receiver, and a charging case is priced at $329.99.
The Mic Pro transmitters are noticeably larger than other wireless microphones, including Insta360’s own Mic Air, but the size accommodates its two main upgrades. Each transmitter boasts a six-color, 1.22-inch, round E Ink screen for displaying logos, names, or helping identify them when multiple are in use. The screens retain images when the transmitters are turned off, and the battery life is estimated at up to 10 hours, extendable to 30 with the charging case.
Each transmitter includes an array of three microphones working together with audio processing software to simulate different pickup patterns. When mounted on a camera, they function like a shotgun mic to concentrate on subjects in front of the camera. Cardioid mode has a narrower pickup pattern ideal for voiceovers, while Figure-8 mode captures audio from both front and back, useful for recording conversations.
There’s 32GB of storage within each transmitter that records a stereo audio backup alongside the recording on a connected device. The Mic Pro system works with most devices using its wireless receiver with USB-C or audio cables, but pairing via Bluetooth is easier with smartphones or Insta360’s various cameras, including its X5, Go Ultra, and Ace Pro 2.
