AI is ubiquitous. Its influence has reached the literary world, with the novel “Shy Girl” being canceled due to AI-generated passages after being picked up by a major publisher. Libby app users have noticed AI involvement in its audiobooks.

TikToker @ems.book.shelff highlighted that AI audiobooks are available on Libby, an app connecting public library cardholders to e-book and audiobook collections. AI integration isn’t new; Libby introduced the ‘Inspire Me’ feature in 2025, using AI to recommend books. While avoidable, AI-narrated audiobooks are an underlying issue. Here’s how to identify AI audiobooks in Libby.

How to Identify AI Audiobooks on Libby

TikToker @ems.book.shelff shared how to detect AI content in Libby. AI audiobook availability varies by library. You’ll need to search instead of looking for an extensive list.

Step 1: Search for AI Voices

In the Libby app, search for the terms “Digital Voice” and “Synthesized Voice” to find titles with AI narration, commonly referred to by these terms.

Step 2: Browse Through Results

Examine individual book listings; AI-narrated books will label the narrator as “synthesized voice” or “digital voice.” Avoid borrowing these if you prefer human narration.
