When Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc contracted COVID despite being vaccinated and boosted, he attempted to fund better research solutions. He soon discovered that simply providing funds in biotech isn’t enough. Regulatory requirements demand a commercialization plan, and philanthropy alone doesn’t facilitate scientific progression through clinical trials or secure university IP licenses. Currently, he is independently funding a cancer drug platform aimed at pancreatic cancer, a disease with a 90% mortality rate, while strategically delaying fundraising until peer-reviewed studies support his initiative.
Join Aloe Blacc and Rebecca Bellan on TechCrunch’s Equity podcast as they discuss the transition from creator to biotech innovator, Aloe’s observations on AI’s impact on the biotech and music industries, and insights on industry success.
