Under the Trump administration, CISA, the nation’s central cybersecurity coordinator, has reportedly not been granted access to Anthropic’s advanced AI, Mythos Preview, which is utilized by several other US federal agencies for cybersecurity purposes. According to Axios, agencies such as the Commerce Department and the NSA are implementing this model, while the Trump administration seeks broader access. Anthropic has been in discussions with US officials about its cyber capabilities, but neither CISA nor Anthropic commented on the agency’s exclusion. Coupled with restrained resources and workforce limitations, this exclusion suggests the agency’s operations are not a priority, risking digital security. Previously attacked by the Trump administration, CISA now faces reduced scope and funding, with the administration aiming for further cuts. Without access to Mythos Preview, a tool that identifies security vulnerabilities in major systems, CISA’s ability to protect critical infrastructure may be further compromised, as noted by Anthropic’s director, but for now, CISA lacks this advantage.
