Camelcamelcamel Introduces Camelmart: A Walmart-Style Amazon Price Tracker

1 Min Read

The creator of camelcamelcamel, a widely-used Amazon price tracking tool, has launched a similar service for Walmart products called camelmart. This California-based developer, Daniel Green, initially developed camelcamelcamel in 2008 as an experiment with Amazon’s Product Advertising API. It became popular and Green enlisted friends to maintain it. Camelcamelcamel and its extension, The Camelizer, provide historical pricing data for Amazon products, allowing users to evaluate deals and set price-drop alerts.

Camelmart offers similar functionality for Walmart products by pulling data from Walmart’s API. Entering a product’s URL on camelmart lets users see its price history and subscribe to alerts. While camelmart lacks a browser extension, plans are in place to add it to the existing one or release a new extension.

In 2009, Green’s team introduced camelbuy for Best Buy, but it was discontinued due to low user engagement. The camel sites are supported through affiliate links, earning commissions on purchases made through them.
