The Dyson Supersonic Travel is cheaper and more portable than its counterparts. Credit: Dyson
Almost three years ago, I asked if the $429 Dyson Supersonic was worth it. The standard model is now $449.99, and the most expensive version is $549.99, making that question more relevant than ever. Good news: Dyson has launched the $299.99 Supersonic Travel. It’s cheaper and more travel-friendly.
As someone who’s tested Supersonics and their duplicates, I checked the latest Dyson launch for all you need to know.
The design differences: The Supersonic Travel is a smaller version of the standard Supersonic, 32% smaller and 25% lighter. It weighs 0.7 pounds and is 8.7 inches tall.
It comes with one attachment, the styling concentrator, like the now-discontinued $399.99 Supersonic Origin. The $449.99 Supersonic includes three attachments: styling concentrator, diffuser, and wide-tooth comb. All five cost $549.99.
The same attachments fit the Travel, original, and Supersonic Nural dryers. Buying the Travel could save money as attachments range from $19.99 to $44.99. With an extra attachment, it’s still over $100 cheaper than the three-attachment original Supersonic.
The Supersonic Travel’s power and airflow are lower than the standard model, which may mean longer drying times. It has three heats and two air speeds, compared to the standard’s four heats and three air speeds.
The Supersonic Travel features universal voltage compatibility, usable from 100 to 240 volts, unlike the 120-volt standard Supersonic.
Available for $299.99 at Dyson’s website, Amazon, and Best Buy. Buying from Dyson’s website includes a $59.99 free travel bag.
