AI Overviews will offer a ‘preview of perspectives.’

Google has introduced new updates to its AI Overviews, including integrating perspectives from social media and online communities.

On May 7, 2026, Google announced these updates to Google Search, featuring a new “Expert Advice” in AI Mode and AI Overview at search results. Now, search results will display social media posts and forum discussions next to the creator’s name or community name, with a link to the source. For example, a Northern Lights photography query included advice from DPReview and Reddit’s r/photography.

Labeling social media posts as “Expert Advice” might be controversial for certain queries, especially as Reddit results have gained traction for product reviews but are unsuitable for medical advice. Google acknowledges this by describing the content as a “preview of perspectives,” appearing under “Perspectives” or “Community Experiences.”

Google’s updates also include recommendations for “Further Exploration” and a link preview feature in AI Overviews. Links are now more visible in AI responses, and links from subscribed news sources are highlighted in AI Overviews.

Google aims to enhance user engagement with these updates, facilitating more informed searches and providing a broader range of perspectives.
