AI Mode in Chrome has been enhanced with a feature that allows opening links to sources alongside chats. This means clicking a source opens the website side by side with AI Mode, facilitating follow-up questions about page content.
Introduced last year, AI Mode operates as a chatbot-like search feature on Google’s search engine. It has gained several features over the past year, such as generating outfit and decor images based on descriptions, visualizing travel plans, and booking restaurant reservations. Google has also increased the visibility of source links to address concerns over AI search features affecting website traffic.
AI Mode now allows desktop or mobile users to select specific tabs for input instead of pasting separate links. Users can press the “plus” button in AI Mode or Google’s search box to view and select recent tabs, and AI Mode will provide answers based on these tabs. You can also add images or files to these searches.
These updates are currently available to US users, with global availability coming soon.
