Infosys Partners with OpenAI to Expand AI Tool Access to Businesses

OpenAI has collaborated with Infosys to incorporate its AI tools, such as the coding assistant Codex, into Infosys’ Topaz AI platform. Infosys aims to use this integration to aid clients in modernizing software development, automating workflows, and deploying AI systems at scale. This will initially focus on software engineering, legacy modernization, and DevOps.

India’s IT firms are under pressure from reduced client spending and rapid advances in generative AI. Infosys shares have dropped over 22% this year due to weak forecasts, concerns that AI could replace parts of outsourcing work, and economic instability from the U.S.-Iran war.

This collaboration mirrors a larger trend of AI companies partnering with global IT services providers to enhance enterprise adoption. OpenAI has also partnered with HCLTech, and Infosys has a similar collaboration with Anthropic.

Through Infosys’ global client network, OpenAI accesses major enterprises, helping them transition from experiments to extensive deployment. Infosys has been expanding its AI sector, revealing that AI-related services generated ₹25 billion in revenue in a recent quarter, about 5.5% of its total.

This deal is part of OpenAI’s efforts to grow its enterprise reach through initiatives like Codex Labs, which includes working with clients to implement its tools. Partners involved are Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC, and Tata Consultancy Services. OpenAI aims to build a network to boost Codex’s adoption, which currently has over 4 million weekly users.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
