It’s not the largest discount, but it’s the most significant one so far. On April 15, the Apple MacBook Neo base model is priced at $589.99 on Amazon. Although it’s not a massive cut from its $599 list price, this is the best we’ve seen since its March release.

Apple’s latest budget laptop, which debuted last month, is already a hot seller. The appeal of a MacBook priced at just $599 is evident. If you haven’t grabbed one yet, it’s now available for even less.

Though modest, the current Amazon price of $589.99 makes the Apple MacBook Neo base model (A18 Pro, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) hit a new low. Previously, the budget-friendly MacBook was reduced to $595 during the Big Spring Sale, but breaking under the $590 mark is unprecedented.

Mashable’s tech editor reviewed the MacBook Neo to high praise. “If I were a Windows laptop under $1,000, I’d be quite worried,” he notes. Catering to basic tasks like streaming and browsing rather than heavy professional work, it operates smoothly, matching the performance of an M4 MacBook Air. It boasts the same sleek aluminum design typical of MacBooks but operates on an iPhone chip: the A18 Pro (mirroring the iPhone 16 Pro).

Other features include a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 6, 8GB of RAM, two USB-C ports, a MagSage charging port, and a headphone jack. Concerned about the 8GB of RAM? Mashable’s reviewer assures that “it did remarkably well.” For students or anyone seeking a secondary device for casual use, the Neo is a commendable choice.
