OpenAI is expected to soon unveil GPT-5.5, the newest enhancement to its ChatGPT model. A recent message on X (formerly Twitter) contains an enigmatic hint regarding this forthcoming announcement.
The message merely reads “NS41,” which has ignited curiosity and speculation among users. Some responses have deciphered this hint, uncovering its importance. Razvan Girgiz noted that the phrase “NS41” is a Base64-encoded string that, once decoded, equates to “5.5.” Another user, Nic, offered a numerical analysis of the letters: N relates to 14, S to 19, leading to the deduction 19 – 14 = 5, and adding 4 + 1 also yields 5, validating that NS41 truly represents 5.5.
This implies that OpenAI is gearing up for the release of GPT-5.5. The announcement comes after a hectic time for the company, which recently updated Codex for Mac, enhancing its functionalities beyond agentic coding. Furthermore, OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Images 2, a new model aimed at generating higher quality images.
As anticipation rises regarding the possible features of GPT-5.5, the tech community is keenly awaiting more information from OpenAI.
