The fitness tracker is getting new AI features as well.
Whoop, a screen-free fitness wearable boasting over 2.5 million users, has announced it will introduce on-demand video consultations with health professionals for its subscribers. According to Whoop’s announcement on Friday, users in the U.S. will be able to access live consultations with licensed clinicians starting this summer. These consultations will allow clinicians to utilize the array of biometric data collected by the app to better interpret a user’s health information.
Coincidentally, Whoop’s announcement comes just a day after Google and Fitbit released their competitor powered by Google Gemini.
To further support users’ fitness goals, Whoop is teaming up with HealthEx to bring Electronic Health Record (EHR) syncing to the app. This will enable users to maintain a detailed health history, including diagnoses, medications, and procedures, right within the app.
“Unlike traditional healthcare experiences that rely on brief, episodic snapshots, these consultations begin with a comprehensive understanding of the member’s health, powered by months of continuous data and, when available, bloodwork and medical history,” Whoop stated in its announcement.
Many of Whoop’s new features are included in its paid membership, but live video consultations will carry an extra yet-to-be-announced cost. “WHOOP is a membership, and we take that seriously,” said Whoop Chief Product Officer Ed Baker in a press release. “We’re always asking how we can deliver more value to our members, and these upcoming features are some of the most meaningful we’ve ever built, from bringing clinician support directly into the app to advancing our AI coaching to be more personal and actionable than ever.”
Whoop clarified to CNBC that this live consultation feature is not intended to replace primary doctor visits or emergency care.
Alongside live video consultations, Whoop is rolling out new AI features, including AI-powered personalized coaching. The personalized coaching will be available through a new feature called My Memory, which will serve as a central hub to view, manage, and enhance Whoop’s AI. Another feature, Proactive Check-Ins, will give users personalized recommendations, such as when to sleep before major events or adjusting training regimens based on travel plans.
