Today’s Connections: Sports Edition will require some movie knowledge. This version of the popular New York Times word game aims to test the knowledge of sports fans. Like the original Connections, the game is about finding “common threads between words.” Just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight with increasing difficulty — we’ve provided some hints and tips to help you.

What is Connections: Sports Edition? The NYT’s latest word game, in association with The Athletic, tests sports knowledge. Players group four words sharing a commonality. Each game features 16 words split into four categories such as book titles, software, or country names. Only one correct answer exists for each group. Correctly identified words are removed; incorrect guesses are mistakes — up to four mistakes end the game.
Players can rearrange and shuffle the board for easier spotting. Each group is color-coded with yellow being easiest, then green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, share results on social media.
