The video displays an Android 17-based OS operating on a laptop, showcasing a home screen with desktop icons and a Google search bar.
Aluminium OS, the forthcoming PC version of Android from Google, might have leaked shortly before Google’s Android Show presentation. According to Android Authority, leaker Mystic Leaks posted a 16-minute video on Telegram, showing an in-depth demo of the new OS.
Following a loading screen with the Android logo, the video demonstrates the setup process for a new device. The process and UI appear quite similar to stock Android, but adapted for a laptop. The taskbar and app drawer resemble those in ChromeOS, while the default home screen now comes with desktop icons and a Google search bar. The settings app indicates the OS is “Android version 17.”
In addition to Mystic Leaks’s demo video, images of a new “Googlebooks” line also leaked, which might be the laptops designed to utilize the new Android-for-PC OS.
Google is hosting its annual Android Show presentation later today at 1PM ET / 10AM PT. It seems we might catch a preview of some announcements.
