OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman is now officially in charge of the company’s product strategy, as reported by Wired.

Brockman has been managing OpenAI’s products temporarily while the company’s CEO of AGI deployment, Fidji Simo, is on medical leave. Wired mentioned that in a staff memo, Brockman outlined plans to integrate ChatGPT and its programming product Codex into a single unified experience.

Brockman reportedly stated, “We’re consolidating our product efforts to execute with maximum focus toward the agentic future, to win across both consumer and enterprise.”

This development is the latest shift at OpenAI since CEO Sam Altman called a “code red” at the end of last year, highlighting the need to refocus on the primary ChatGPT experience. Since then, OpenAI has stopped several projects like video generator Sora and OpenAI for Science, emphasizing its goal to build an AI “super app.”

TechCrunch has contacted OpenAI for comments. The company informed Wired that Simo, who is on medical leave, collaborated with Brockman on implementing these changes.
