Variations Between Micro RGB and Micro-LED Television Panels

True RGB, also known as RGB LED by certain manufacturers, made its debut in 2025, with 2026 anticipated to be the year that Micro RGB TVs will dominate your home entertainment system. Numerous manufacturers, such as LG, Samsung, and Sony, presented Micro RGB TVs at CES 2026, which are projected to be released throughout the year. It’s worth noting that these TVs are occasionally confused with Micro-LED TVs due to their similar names.

Nevertheless, despite their similarly named titles, the Micro RGB and Micro-LED TVs differ significantly. While the former have rapidly entered the market from several producers, albeit at premium prices, the Micro-LED TVs still represent a very niche category. Both television display technologies are thrilling, and while the Micro RGB TVs mark the next advancement in Mini-LED TVs, the Micro-LED TVs exist on an entirely different tier.

How do Micro RGB TV panels function and perform?

The Micro RGB panels, currently incorporated in select televisions from Hisense, Samsung, and TCL, represent an advancement of Mini-LED technology. Instead of the blue or white LEDs found in traditional Mini-LED TVs, Micro RGB panels utilize red, green, and blue LEDs. Consequently, they do not require color filters or quantum dots to transform the white or blue light emitted from the backlight into RGB colors visible on the screen. They directly employ the colors produced by the RGB LEDs. This not only yields purer colors (as there is no secondary filtration involved) but also enhances brightness, significantly improving a Micro RGB TV’s color volume, gamut, and HDR capabilities.
