A major shift back to consoles.
PlayStation is reportedly halting the release of its major single-player PlayStation games on PC. Jason Schreier from Bloomberg reveals that Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation’s studios, announced the strategic change during a town hall meeting. Schreier had earlier reported in March that Sony scrapped plans for PC versions of last year’s “Ghost of Yōtei” and other internal games. However, online games will still be available on multiple platforms.
Sony has released many top games on PC in recent years, including “Spider-Man 2,” “Ghost of Tsushima,” “The Last of Us” games, “Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered,” and titles like “Helldivers 2” and “Marathon.” Two years ago, Hulst committed to launching PlayStation’s live service games simultaneously on PC and PS5, but single-player PC releases have been more strategic.
Sony might not be the only one reverting to exclusives; Asha Sharma, Microsoft’s new Xbox leader, informed staff of her intention to “reevaluate” exclusives for the platform.
